Mental Health support for the casualties of the war

Since October 7th, many of Israel’s psychotherapists are dedicating much of their time to help tens of thousands of civilians who were subjected to horrific traumas, following the unimaginable atrocities of the Hamas.

Babies and children were abused and brutally murdered in front of their parents, parents were slaughtered in front of their children, women were raped and tortured. Whole communities are now homeless. All those people who have been directly impacted, as well as their immediate families need our professional help.

We have been dedicating all our knowledge, experience and compassion, reaching out to those people. Thousands of our therapists have put their lives on hold, giving everything they have to those people.

Our vision is to allow every civilian in the first line of those affected by the war to choose if they want to receive care via the state or via the private sector. Civilians who choose to receive care via the private sector, will receive a grant of care covering a year or more.

First Line Med seeks to be that answer, to enable this care within the private sector.

At the Head of the organization is Sarai Fang-Segev, along with her is professor Ofrit Shapira Berman (Hebrew University) the person in charge of this mission, a psychoanalytic lecturer and expert on trauma care.

The organization includes hundreds of doctors and mental health professionals and recruits top experts in the field in order to establish guidelines for this work, as well as eligibility for receiving this aid.

Our grants cover treatment with:

  • Professional therapists
  • Clinical psychologists
  • Developmental psychologists
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers (with a minimum of an MSW)
  • Psychoanalysts

First Line Med provides therapy with different treatment methodologies and covers cost of care out of the donations fund. Estimated cost for the treatment of a single victim per year is 20,000 NIS.

All First Line Med caregivers undergo training provided by the organization, in addition to the existing professional training that they receive as part of their regular work.
